Our brains love connecting dots, but assumptions keep us stuck. Here are a handful of ways to combat making assumptions:

  1. When are you making assumptions? Learn how to catch yourself so it’s clear to you when you are motivated by what you know and when you are motivated by what you think you know. 
  2. Ask questions. “What facts do I have to prove my thinking is true? What facts do I have to prove my thinking isn’t true?”
  3. Seek multiple perspectives. No one owns the whole truth; we each have a little piece of it.
