Make It A Habit

When your emotions take over, here are a few questions to ask yourself to be more objective:

  • Who is showing up right now? If your emotions are party guests in your home, who has the spotlight and attention right now?
  • Why am I feeling this way? It’s important to understand the underlying reasons for your emotions.
  • How do I want to respond to this feeling? How should I respond to this feeling? There are ways we want to act, but more often, there are better ways we should or even must react.
  • Practice better media literacy. Learning how to question what you’re watching, listening to, or reading will help you understand the messages that are being communicated.
